Gorgeous Antique French Rococo Ormolu FIRESCREEN in the form of a shield

A Louis XV style bronze fireplace screen, with finely chased detail to the foliate scrolls, in its original ormolu finish. Ormolu is the gilding technique of applying finely ground, high-carat gold–mercury amalgam to an object of bronze, and for objects finished in this way.

Condition : Good antique condition with some wear commensurate with age and use. Originally I think it came with a mesh backing and the brass sheet is a later replacement.
