19TH Century Cast Iron Stick stand Umbrella stand - Hercules and the Serpent

19TH Century Cast Iron Stick stand Umbrella stand - Hercules and the Serpent

SKU: VMA1191

This antique umbrella stand is a well-sculpted model depicting the legend of young Hercules and the serpent by ‘Edwin & Theophilus Smith’. The antique umbrella stand has a removable drip tray at the bottom. A rather unique 19th-century antique.  The story goes about the baby Hercules wrestling with the snake that the jealous Hera sent to destroy the child.

This is a highly decorative item for an entrance hall, umbrella, or walking stick stand.  Great decorator piece.

Condition: Good antique condition with wear commensurate with age and use.  Left in its original condition, some rust appears which is typical with aging.  One can paint the umbrella stand to suit any interior design.
